Le Cordon Bleu London is searching for some of the country’s most passionate food and cooking enthusiasts – regardless of age, location or background – giving them the chance to finally follow their business dreams and aspirations, learning from some of the best in the industry as they study at the world’s leading culinary arts institution.

The Prize

Worth over £40,000!

The Julia Child Scholarship is about offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to the most passionate food and cooking enthusiast living in the United Kingdom.

The 2019 winner will be awarded a place on both our highly respected Diplôme de Pâtisserie and our Diploma in Culinary Management. Combined, the 12 month course comprises two diplomas studied one after the other to form our Diplôme de Pâtisserie with Culinary Management. Awarding the winner with their prize will be one of the true greats of the industry; esteemed chef, TV personality and Le Cordon Bleu alumna Mary Berry.

Throughout the tuition, the winner will also be invited to meet some of our most successful London-based alumni for one-to-one mentoring sessions, including author Luiz Hara, restaurateur Dhruv Mittal, Georgia Green of Georgia's Cakes and Evelina Ogorzalek of Evelina's Patisserie.

During the 12 month course, s/he will also carry out work experience at the iconic luxury London hotel, The Savoy, offering a truly incredible first-hand insight into the operations of a high-end restaurant kitchen. Additionally, Churchill tableware will be providing prizes for the winner and the runners up, and ZWILLING will be providing a set of Diploma knives for 2nd & 3rd place.

Also included in this outstanding prize, is luxury accommodation courtesy of Londonist, which the successful candidate will enjoy for 12 months.

How to apply

The Julia Child Scholarship by Le Cordon Bleu is open to everyone who is lawfully a resident in United Kingdom. You need to be at least 18 years old and make sure you read and understand our terms and conditions before applying.

Step 1
Prepare the responses to the four following questions:

  • Tell us about yourself
  • Why do you want to apply for our Scholarship?
  • If you could start your own business:
    • What type of business would you start and why?
    • What would be unique about your business?

Step 2
Have your CV ready in Word or PDF.

Step 3
If you would like to add in a 1-minute video to assist your application, please make sure they are also ready to be uploaded. While not compulsory, a video outlining why you want to attend Le Cordon Bleu and more details about your business goals will provide us with a more rounded application form for us to assess.

Step 4
Submit your application by Sunday 16th June 2019 23h59.

The semi-final and Grand Final will both take place in London, with the semi-final spread across Wednesday 3rd & Thursday 4th July and the final taking place on Monday 16th September.
